Dour Festival 2013: Flying Lotus
The jewel in Warp's impressive array of artists, Flying Lotus is back this year on the Dour stages, bringing an intense set with him. With electronica inspired by icy fjords and an ingenious trip-hop edge to boot, Trentemøller , icon of the electronica scene will be bringing his organic style to the Plaine de la Machine à Feu.
Dour Festival 2013: Flying Lotus and more dance music
In terms of dance music, we're happy to have secured the services of the Germans Booka Shade , always ready to stir up the dancefloor into a frenzy with their disco/funky techno.
And in French electro we have the classy Gesaffelstein live - known around the world for his breathtaking live performances - to send dance fans into a trance. Elsewhere, Joris Delacroix - the revelation of the year and big hope for the future of French electro - will offer a captivating live performance.
Remember Tnght? The godfathers of trap music were the first group to ever represent the genre at Dour last year. This year, it's the mysterious UZ's turn to take the baton. This prodidy, who has been vouched for by Diplo, Flosstradamus, JWLS, and Toddla-T, and who has been causing havoc on Soundcloud, has also been tearing up dancefloors around the globe. Let's dance!
With Cashmere Cat and his minimalist electro with shades of R&B (miaow!), we can promise you'll be transported to another planet. Speaking of which, Jets - a perfect mix of the electro-funk spirit of Jimmy Edgar synths and the syncopated rhythms of Machinedrum - will be the vehicle for your ascent. Then taking you on to a dream land will be Nathan Fake , who weaves together some powerful tracks from break beats and space-age samples.
Returning to firm, English soil, we have Fantastic Mr Fox - none other than the newest electro phenomenon of the Black Acre label.
The soundscapes and ethereal vocal samples of Calyx&Teebee will create a tangible - almost cinematographic - atmosphere. In a completely different genre, Black Sun Empire will bring their oppressive, heavy, industrial sounds to the Plaine de la Machine à Feu.
With detailed production, harnessing every genre clash imaginable between jazz and electronica, and lacing it all with recurring oriental themes, Culprate will take us to new dimensions. Meanwhile, Zomboy will dazzle with his penetrating melodies so intricate they could be called symphonies - a secret formula for which he alone holds the recipe.
And to finish in style (and stylish is definitely what it is), the dreamy, exaltant minimalism from the Russian DJ Nina Kraviz will take you into seventh heaven.
Making your legs want to move? It is for us - we are hopping with excitement!
