Dour Festival 2013: Jurassic 5

Dour Festival 2013

The hip-hop, trip-hop and afrobeat line-up is shaping up nicely with the confirmation of up-and-coming artists, legendary figures on the scene, and brand new finds!

Dour 2013: New Names

After their reformation for Coachella last weekend, Jurassic 5 (Cut Chemist, DJ Nu-Mark, Akil, Chali 2na, Zaakir aka Soup, and Mark 7even) will be at Dour this summer for an exclusive appearance! We have also added the new group formed by the figurehead of the hip-hop movement Koole Keith, Ultramagnetic MC's. Sonic pioneer Gilles Peterson will join Lefto's line-up for the Saturday, while Veence Hanao, the great white hope of Belgian rap, will bring his captivating lyrical and rhythmic prowess to the stage. And talking of bright young things, US-based Watsky and his rapid-fire rap have been confirmed. Back to legends - The Herbaliser will demonstrate their love of hip-hop, funk and jazz, a love evidently shared by Jungle by Night, a group of young Dutch performers who mix ethio-jazz, afrobeat, and funk.

The first raft of dub names are confirmed for 2013, and a new area has been created on the festival site!

NEW for the 25th edition! The festival has created a new area on site: the Dub Corner - a stage dedicated entirely to dub over two days! The very talented Blackboard Jungle Sound System will be master of ceremonies of the Dub Corner, hosting a number of different guests each day. The Dub Invaders High Tone Crew SoundSystem project will appear on the Saturday, with many more to come! Sunday night will see The Bug feat. Flowdan, Daddy Freddy and Miss Red, with all their knack for putting on a performance, the Scottish Mungo's Hifi feat. YT & Solo Banton, as well as one of the great French dubstep craftsmen Panda Dub, bringing all the comfort and power of a fine whiskey to the Boombox.

A few last touches to the line-up for fans of electronic music! The tone has been set - you will dance body and soul to the restless rhythms of the night!

The master of getting the dancefloor moving, Brodinski is back at the festival, while the minimalist sounds of Pleasurekraft and the underground techno of French Fries will bring Detroit to Belgium! Elsewhere, the Scottish artist S-Type will be playing his ingenious, technical remixes and the manic DJ Manu Le Malin and the 200 BPM Hellfish will paint a rosy picture for the future of hardcore electronica during the Breakcore set on Saturday. Finally, we'll be relying on the loyal and talented Hellfish and the young Eptic to fuel the legend that is Dour at night. The electro line-up is almost complete, but we still have a few surprises left up our sleeves. Equally, the enlarging indie line-up will still leave room for some crowning jewels in the coming weeks. So it's with the reverb-laden dream-pop of Eptic and the psychedelic garage of White Denim that the line-up grows, along with the ingenious Jacco Gardner, the heady Concrete Knives, the ferocious Beware of Darkness and the retro Thee Marvin Gays.

So we're going to get our breath back after this tasty announcement. Rest assured we'll be back again next week!
